You’re Not Alone, Momma

Not Alone

Do you enjoy being a mommy?

I love it! It’s rewarding in so many ways, but being a mom is hard work.  If you would have told me before kids that I was living the dream- staying up late, going out when I wanted, doing whatever I wanted to do whenever I wanted to, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

In between laundry, cooking and working a full time job, being a mom is hard. If you think it’s hard too, you’re not alone. You never get a break, and you are always on. Somebody always needs you. I love my kids, but sometimes it gets overwhelming and I just need some “me time”.

This past weekend, I spent way too many hours creating things for my TPT store.  St. Patrick’s Day is coming up and I had to make some fun stuff! I’m so sleep deprived though. I only get to work on things when my littles are in bed and that makes for a loooooong day.

Lately, my “me time” has been working on my blog.  It has been pretty therapeutic, so that’s helpful, but I need more than that. This weekend I went to see a friend and then went to a baby shower for a good friend who struggled to get pregnant. She had 5 failed iuis and 2 failed ivf cycles and became pregnant after giving up on them all.

While I was driving out to see her, I listened to a sermon and it was exactly what I needed to hear.  I used to have a long commute where I was able to listen to a sermon every day. I felt so close to God and I was always hungry for more.  Jame 4:8 is so true, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you…”

It was like God took me by the hand and said, “It’s okay mama, it’s okay to be overwhelmed. I’m here for you.” Experiencing that closeness again felt amazing.

Don’t forget, you are not alone, momma.

This song by Natalie Grant really rings true.  “How did I forget you are King of the world?”

Reminding myself today that He’s in control.

What do you do when you are overwhelmed? Do you find your strength in God?
